Microsoft ® Windows ® Resource Kits contain lots of information on the operating system and how to get it installed, plus lots of useful tools.
With the help of the Windows 95 Resource Kit, it took me only 2 weeks
to prepare the migration of one of our departments' workstations from
OS/2 to Windows 95 (starting without any Windows 95 knowledge at all!).
The tool that helped me most in that project was BATCH.EXE, a tool that
can make a "snapshot" of your current installation and translate that
snapshot to a SETUP.INF for unattended installations.
Many of my early NT 4 batch files rely on Resource Kit utilities.
Starting with Windows 95, Resource Kits are available for every
Windows version, as well as for Exchange, SMS, Office, etc.
Many Resource Kits are available as "internationalized" versions as well.
A subset of the Microsoft Windows 98 Resource
Kit can be found on the Windows 98 CD-ROM.
It isn't installed by default.
The Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools are available for free at Microsoft's web site.
