Rob van der Woude's Scripting Pages

Inside <frameset>s

The <base target> tag

One useful tag when using <frame>s in your web site is the <base target> tag.

Usually, you would have to specify the target frame for each link to each page.

The <base target> tag specifies a default target, so you only need to specify the target for pages that need to be displayed in (one of) the other frame(s).

Place this tag in the head of each page containing links that should be displayed in frames.

Note: Do not use the <base target> tag in HTML 4.0 strict nor in XHTML.
